BRAIN IMAGINGSPECT SCAN BRAIN IMAGING
MOST PRACTICAL WAY IDENTIFYING BRAIN SYSTEMS.
SPECT is Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography. A nuclear study of cerebral blood flow and a state of brain activity. The machine costs $2m new and the scan performed by a Nuclear Medicine Doctor and runs from $2500 to $3,000 depending upon having the scan performed on the brain at rest or at concentration, or ideally both.
The SPECT scan is the most practical measure of determining how the brain actually functions. They include but are not limited to:
BRAIN TRAUMA, MOOD DISORDERS, ADD, DEMENTIA, & VIOLENCE
The reasons a SPECT scan is ordered includes:
1. Evaluating memory problems and dementia.
2. Seizure activity.
3. Blood vessel diseases such as stroke.
4. Evaluating the effects of mild to severe head traumas.
5. Evaluating atypical or unresponsive aggressive behavior.
6. Determine extent of brain impairment caused by drug and alcohol abuse.
7. Typing anxiety, depression, ADD, mania, bi-polar disorders.
8. Suspicion of underlying organic brain condition such as prenatal trauma, exposure to toxins, and seizure activity contributing to behavioral disturbances.
QEEG – Quantitative Electroencephalogram
2nd Most Practical way of Measuring Brain Systems.
Everyone’s brain and body run on a unique level electricity. The electricity is measured in clinical settings everyday using an Electroencephalogram (EEG) and an Electrocardiogram (EKG). A QEEG costs between $500-$600 and is administered by a Clinician certified in NeuroFeedback. A cap is placed on the scalp and 19 points are measured with a feedback loop back to a computer monitoring the electrical firing of the brain waves – Delta – Theta – Beta- and Alpha.
Incorrect levels of electricity can result in neurological, physiological, or behavioral issues like Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and difficulty sleeping. The good news is that beyond measurement the EEG and EKG data can also be used to give the brain and body feedback about when they are functioning at incorrect levels. Over time, using the feedback, the brain and body can self-regulate and begin running on the correct levels of electricity. This change optimizes brain and body function.
In the dimensions of analysis section (the first section) there are the dimensions of magnitude, coherence, dominant frequency, and asymmetry.
Magnitude section looks at the relation between frequencies in terms of magnitude. It looks at Delta, Theta, Alpha, and Beta. Those frequency relationships, in terms of magnitude provide information regarding the distribution of EEG. It tells us what distributions are abnormal and what distributions are normal
The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) is a US federally registered 501(c) 3 non-profit organization comprised of 20,000-plus member physicians, health practitioners, scientists, governmental officials, and members of the general public, representing over 100 nations. The A4M is dedicated to the advancement of technology to detect, prevent, and treat aging related disease and to promote research into methods to retard and optimize the human aging process. The A4M is also dedicated to educating physicians, scientists, and members of the public on biomedical sciences, breaking technologies, and anti-aging issues.
